About Aromatherapy?

Aromatherpay is the use of essential oils for therapeutic purposes. We at Sasy n Savy ensure our essential oils are concentrated, pure plant extracts that are highly fragrant.

For centuries, the aromatic properties of plants have been used for healing and medical purposes. Fragrant herbs were burnt as incense and used as ingredients in lotions, ointments and medicines before the development of distillation techniques.

The ancient Eygptians were the first to discover the benefits associated with fragrance more that 6,000 years ago. They used oils including Myrrh, Lotus and Sandalwood for embalming rituals as well as treating disease.

René-Maurice Gattefossé introduced the term 'Aromatherapy' to the world in the 1930's. A French Chemist, he bagan to study the power of essantial oils after he applied Lavender Oil to a burn and discovered that it healed without badly scaring or developing infection.

The modern practice of Aromatherapy was born in the 1940's by Marguarite Maury, who heavily researched the healing agents of essential oils through inhalation and direct application to the body. She is also accredited with developing essential oils for use in massage. During the past 20 years, there has been a resurgence in the popularity of Aromatherapy by both holistic healthcare professionals and the general public.
